Black River Capital — an investment-grade site built for credibility, not clicks
An investment-grade site with a restrained capital-markets tone built for credibility over volume.
01
The situation
Black River Capital's audience is small, senior and sceptical. A handful of the right introductions matters more than a thousand visitors, and the site's job is to survive being opened in a meeting.
The previous presence leaned on stock imagery and growth-marketing language that undercut the firm. It looked like a startup pitching, not a capital partner being evaluated.
02
What I built
- Full site design and build with a deliberately narrow visual language
- Positioning and structure: who they work with, what they do, how a conversation starts
- Typographic hierarchy and restrained motion instead of decorative imagery
- Performance and accessibility pass so the site is fast and legible on any device
03
How it works
Finance buyers read restraint as competence. The design removes gradients, stock photography and persuasion patterns, and instead uses spacing, type weight and a very small colour range to signal seniority. Every element earns its place or is deleted.
Structure follows the diligence path rather than a marketing funnel: what the firm does, the shape of the mandates it takes, who is behind it, and a single low-friction way to open a conversation. There is no lead magnet, no popup and no urgency mechanic, because those would cost credibility here.
Motion is kept to a single quiet reveal so the site feels considered on a partner's laptop and does not distract when screen-shared in a call.
